Belle Brezing Bed Race
In honor of one of Lexington’s more illustrious historical figures, the Belle Brezing Bed Race will be held Thursday night
adjacent to the old courthouse on Short Street between Mill St. and Upper St. at 6pm.  Companies, schools, organizations and individuals will enter their own specially decorated beds which will be raced in heats in a course along Short Street.  Heat winners will race each other until a grand prize winner can be declared and awards presented.   Hundreds of people will be lining the streets enjoying the antics of the racers and their beds.  Each team must have a person in the bed, and 4 “pushers” of the bed.  Mid-course the referee will require all racers to change position.  Hilarity is sure to ensue, and the press is sure to cover this wild and wacky event.

Here's just an example of what you'll see if you come down to cheer the beds on:

"Loaner" Beds are available if you cannot provide one.  For more information, call 859-425-2590.  To enter and for Bed Race Rules click the following link:

Pub Crawl:
We’re bringing back one of last year’s most popular events – one that brought hundreds of visitors to Downtown Lexington on a cold and rainy night!  We anticipate an even bigger crowd this year.  After enjoying the Belle Brezing Bed Races (around 7pm), participants will register at Cheapside Park to be part of the Pub Crawl.  They will be armed with a map of participating bars, an I.D. bracelet identifying them as a Pub Crawler and a t-shirt.   Participating bars will have a featured drink special available to pub crawlers at a discounted price.  Crawlers can check off each bar they have visited and vote on which drink is their favorite.  Transportation provided by Triple Crown Limousine between bars will be available for those who don’t wish to walk, and a Safe & Sober ride home will also be provided for those who need one, courtesy of WLEX.

Steeplechase Race:

*It's Not Too Late To Register!*

The steeplechase historically was named for a horse race where contestants ran from one church and its steeple to another church and its steeple.  The Best of the Bluegrass Steeplechase will be a 5K race like Lexington has never seen.  Participants will run a course through Downtown Lexington beginning at Cheapside Park and Main Street.  As they wind their way through downtown, they will be entertained by music as they run from point to point (or church steeple to church steeple).

After the race, enjoy brunch provided by Cosi and the awards presentation in Victorian Square.

LexJam!

Lexington is a city thick with musicians, from those who play for the sheer pleasure of it to working professionals. LexJam was created to bring the city's players, singers and listeners together in one space once each month to share in the musical conversation of a community jam session.  Held at ArtsPlace on North Mill Street in downtown Lexington, the sessions are open to musicians of all persuasions. Free parking is available adjacent to ArtsPlace.

LexJam uses equipment purchased specifically for the event including a full drum kit, keyboard, bass and guitar amplifiers plus a concert grand piano provided by the Lexington Center. A full sound system with microphones and stage monitors tops off the professional setting. Musicians are asked to sign-in according to instrument and are invited to the stage when an opening exists.

LexJam is held from 1pm - 5pm at ArtsPlace on North Mill Street in downtown Lexington.
